My name is Leslie O’Kane, and I’m proud that my first name has led me to associate with such fine writers. I write three cozy mystery series, as well as humorous women’s fiction and two young adult thrillers. One of my mystery series is written as Leslie Caine and features two interior designers, Erin Gilbert and Steve Sullivan, whose relationship grows over the course of the first eight books.
My alter-ego is featured in my Molly Masters series. The head of my critique group at that time (in the mid-1990s) suggested I stop writing about a psychiatrist and, instead, create a main character more like me. After pondering her advice, I remembered how I began college as an art major and made greeting cards for my friends. Molly became a typical mom in suburbia who creates eCards and has a penchant for stumbling across dead bodies.
My third series is about a dog therapist here in Boulder, Colorado, named Allie Babcock. She is young and single and is modeled after my own daughter (who fortunately does not have Allie’s bad luck with murderous clients, neighbors, and associates).
